Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, as reported by authorities.
Vehicles, walls and postal boxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.
Officers state they were notified in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident discovered that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a red-colored liquid.
The substance had been placed in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they added.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized cars and building exteriors in the surrounding area.
These symbols are banned in Germany under regulations prohibiting the public display of Nazi symbols.
Police report preliminary tests indicate the liquid was most likely human bodily fluid.
"There is still no indication as to its source; authorities are not yet informed of any physical harm in connection with the incident," they stated.
City officials stated they were trying "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the community for tips.
A high-ranking political figure stated the attack made him without words and had to be solved quickly.
"This event affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the right-wing violent incident in 2020," he stated on social media, referring to the murder of nine victims by a gunman aiming at residents of migrant background in five years prior.
