Throughout the evening, Russian aerial assaults have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.
Several individuals were injured while local people in the city's east were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to water supplies, per reports from municipal leaders.
At the same time, a young boy was fatally injured in a different aerial attack in the Zaporizhzhia area in the southern area, as reported by local officials.
Moscow has escalated assaults on power infrastructure over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from international partners to apply pressure on Russia.
"What is required is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the US, Europe and the major economies - in providing protection systems and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a public message.
Officials stated that numerous aerial vehicles and over thirty missiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such attacks as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.
The energy minister said Russia was "inflicting a massive strike" and technical staff were working to fix the damage.
A barrage of missiles hit energy infrastructure and residential structures in the capital.
Five out of the nine people wounded in the strikes on the city have been hospitalized, according to city authorities.
Area administrators said the city endured intense attacks throughout the evening. A minor was killed and three other people were wounded.
The strikes follow periods of aerial attacks in the region, parts of which are currently controlled by invading troops.
The entire country is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are more difficult to identify.
National leaders told reporters that Russia was deliberately attempting to destroy the country's energy grid, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.
Authorities confirmed energy workers and government agencies were bracing for further attacks.
